Lesson 5

The effects of violent video games are very discussed and controversial. According to Walker (2001, p. 116), research conducted in the past decade has revealed that young people who regularly play
violent computer games have a tendency to be more aggressive than those who do not. On the other hand, Smith (2003) children's programs are especially violent, as is shown by Tom and Jerry. If young children are expected to realize that it is only a cartoon, teenagers playing computer games can also recognize that it's only a game. In my opinion video games violent video games can influence children to be violent because they are growing up and forming their thinking.
